Very cool! I like the color of the copper core!
I wonder if it circulated and then started to clam shell or if the clad was separated from the start. It looks like it's seen a few miles, but it may have been a pocket piece. When did you aquire it? Was it in the pictured condition when you got it?
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Quote: I wonder if it circulated and then started to clam shell or if the clad was separated from the start. Thinking the same thing. Would have been quite the clam shell perhaps. Nice Find!

Thanks - I bought it at my LCS - it was in his 'junk box' Quote: I wonder if it circulated and then started to clam shell or if the clad was separated from the start. Yes it appears like spent time in the world for a while, at some point during circulation, I'm guessing that it clam-shelled

Nice pick. I like these more than a complete loss of clad layer. Looks like it happened in 2 stages.

Thanks everyone for the comments. And yes, CuJohn, I too think it happened in stages as well.
