Appears to be just damaged/scratched surface. Die polishing marks can look similar to this but the scratches would raised on the coin surface.

I know its hard to tell in the photos but under the scope I can see they are raised. Definitely die scratches. Have you ever seen one with this much? This die was long overdue to replaced, the fg is practically gone

I'm thinking die abrasion issues. Coin might be worth 50 cents to a dollar to someone who collects pieces with odd die abrasion/scratch/polishing issues.

Die Abrasion. No premium, but still very cool.

Definitely if raised scratches, then extreme die abrasion. Keeper for sure.

Heavy die polishing - you can tell as the lines do not go over the details.

I see a badly scratched cent here.

I strongly disagree Dearborn. These are Die Abrasion marks, not scratches. They're raised, not incuse.
Errers and Varietys.

I am in the die abrasion camp on this one, possible due to an old die clash... I see these all of the time, but this is one of the worst/best I've seen.
