*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

I found this coin in some change, and it looks similar to a Dryer Coin, but the edges still have all the copper on them, the rim is sharp, and the surface of the edge is relatively smooth. I'm a bit puzzled by it.

@pigs, for sure it is mechanical damage. Whether that came specifically from a dryer is anyone's guess, but I'd say this is pretty consistent.

It could be a Dryer Coin. Either way, it's PMD.

I think it is Dryer Coin but do an experiment and put a cent in your dryer and match them up.

thanks for the input on this one most of the Dryer Coins I've seen have rounded edges, also sorry for the close up pics I'm using my coin microscope because its the only camera I have that takes pictures with a small enough file size to post to the site.

Like you stated "most" - but not "all".

Certainly Dryer Coins come in many types. Some do indeed have very sharp vertical edges just like your coin is showing. Check out the link below on Dryer Coins.

Pigstand, I use the free Image Size app for my iPad. It works fine. You have to watch a video after a resize, but if you are only resizing a single image you can just close the app.

It's not a Dryer Coin, but it was damaged after it left the Mint. A Dryer Coin will have puffy details, which we don't see on this coin.
