Quote: Here's a question: if a mint mark were found today on 1990's to present that was doubled, would it be considered a doubled die obverse or would it be called an rpm? Depends on the denomination and it could also be MD.

Quote:What are the different end dates for RPM's by denomination on US coins if different than 1990? ..and Machine Doubling is not a DDO. You need to re-read the question, slowly, and then do some research. You are far enough along to figure this out on your own.

OK slowly, how does it depend on the denomination? Start by explaining that.

So re-reading a posting on RPM's that I bookmarked some time ago by COOP states this: So there are no more RPMs after 1989. But if the mint marks are doubled, they are then called a doubled die as the mint mark is part of the design. Al after 1990all the mint marks are all in the same location because they are part of the design. Thus if the mint marks are doubled, they are doubled dies. The dates on Cents would also be doubled as in the example I posted on the 2017-P DDO and the 1995-D above. Edited by coop 01/26/2019 11:27 am I read the question quite clearly the first time. Please explain your answer that makes no sense and leads me to believe you did not read the original question.

I thought this was a good read and was not familiar with the actual dates, beyond what I had always been told. Granted, there are none known, but would assume it to be a possibility. CCF LINK: http://goccf.com/t/362852 The answer I gave about it being "doubled", was short and incomplete, as there are several possibilities for "worthless doubling". Makecents. I was trying to simplify the question, talking about true doubling of the mint mark. I was trying to stay away from complicating the question by adding to the question of machine/mechanical damage/doubling. I think Tacc picked up on that and answered directly to what I was asking. I pretty much knew the answer already, but thought this was a good subject to bring up for others. Thanks guys

Note that your 57-D #5 is also DDO-002. Shows strongly in BERTY.

makecents, I also oversimplified my answer to address the question, but I did base it on facts that I had read on one of COOP's earlier posts. I have been coin collecting since 1970 but as you may know I just started becoming interested in Errors & Varieties just 2 years ago. Everything I've learned regarding that, I have learned here on this forum and with extensive reading. I have a heck of alot to learn still.
