Found this in pocket change and don't know what exactly made me take a closer look. Even if it isn't a double die, it's the first quarter I've found with this much doubling on it. It just goes to show you what you can miss if you don't look.

Mashed down, flattened out = Machine Doubling every time.

Nice example of MD. What's that up by the 'S' in 'STATES', could it be a strike through, gouge or crack?

IMHO, the doubling is more of a result of Die Deterioration Doubling than Machine or Strike Doubling! Note that the doubling is along Washington's (face) extending West from the profile but on "IN GOD WE TRUST" it is North and East.
