I'm in the market for one and have been keeping an eye open for a while. And most of the AG03s I've come across doesn't have the details its required to have at that grade and the ones that I felt meets the grade goes over $900.
So I would love to see the 16Ds that you own if you don't mind. Just to get an idea.
Thank you.

I'm ashamed of mine. It's only AG3. Plus it was never authenticated. I'm afraid some knowledgable member will tell me it's a phony. For now, I'm happy in my self-inflicted ignorance.

I do not have one yet. I still need the 1916-D as well as the 1921 P&D pair to complete my set.

Quote: For now, I'm happy in my self-inflicted ignorance. I can relate. I finally had someone look at mine under a scope last month, and they said they believed the coin was legit. Mine is also in the AG-3 range. Sorry, no picture.

Like JBuck, I am also missing the 3 biggies for my Mercury dime set. I think Just_Carl owns all of the existing examples . I think he has 6 of them I am still waiting to hear if he will adopt me

I do not have one, but probably easily could. Overrated, though. I'd much rather have something truly rare like an 1866-S no motto half dollar.

Thanks everyone. Nice mercs. Sometimes I can't tell the difference between the AG & G grades. They're so similar but price wise they're far apart. Maybe I should keep saving and go for a VG.

Quote: Sometimes I can't tell the difference between the AG & G grades. Then look at lots of slabbed coins...the pictures on Heritage (ha.com) are a great resource. You can look at 1916-D's until you never want to see one again. :) Once you find one 1916-D, you can click on "View prices realized from this item in other grades" and see a list of completed auctions, and you can sort the list by grade. The full size pictures tend to be on auctions ended after Jan 1, 2007.

Oh, are you looking to buy a certified coin or a raw one? There are a lot of fakes out there.
