Hey coinnoisseurs not sure what to think of this one. it looks that it might have been under some heat to melt part of the coin?

Have you soaked it in acetone?

Try soaking it in 100% pure acetone and see if that helps dissolve the stuff on your coin. I'm suspecting PMD.

Yeah, I'm not 100% convinced this is a lamination issue.

While all this gets worked out....the last 9 in 1929 seems to show evidence of Die Deterioration (think '55 poor man's).

It does look like a foreign substance.

The linear marks might be due to delamination, but there's also some crud or maybe verdigris on top of the surfaces. An acetone soak might be a good place to start.

Hey coinnoisseurs, if you send a coin to grade (for example this one), and you happened to soak it with acetone, does that affect the grade or does it alter the coin at all? I know this one is not the case but for future references.

And yes. the damage on the coin seems to be partially engraved under the lettering and maybe some foreign substance as well. it is currently soaking with acetone due to your guyses opinion.
