Shows sold and seller deleted images, so just the genuine shows. Anyone copy the bad images?

Someone's in for a surprise. The seller does allow returns. Interesting that the images of the fake were edited out 30 minutes before it sold.
I had a similar experience with a George III guinea. What arrived was a lightweight gaming token worth about $10. I reported it and the money was credited back. The seller wasn't interested in a return.

Even though sold, the listing will be removed.

What good does just removing the listing do? I reported it in hopes the sale could be halted if actually sold.

Until every item for sale on ebay has some sort of embedded verification chip, which seems unlikely, then the number of fraudulent listings and suckered buyers will only continue to grow. Kind of like death and taxes - inevitable. ebay appeals to the worst instincts of people, kind of like state-sponsored lotteries and casinos, which many states now depend on to balance their budgets. There have been crooks and scammers since day one. ebay just gives them a wordwide audience.

Quote: The seller does allow returns. Interesting that the images of the fake were edited out 30 minutes before it sold. when I buy fairly expensive items from the Bay, I'll get a screen capture of the listing before purchase, then one just after. This way if the seller changes things up when I get the item, I have proof of the original sale post to present to ebay if necessary. I have seen the images change from time to time on a purchase and the seller that this "Was the one I bought" until I showed the original posting if it. (the seller relented at that point and refunded..

Quote: I don't think a seller can remove images once a listing has a bid, or has sold. Maybe they can add images before an item sells. yes they can, I seen it happen to me when I was trying to buy a replacement control board for my oven - at time of purchase it had an image of the exact board I needed, when I got the board, it did not match what I needed, but going back to the listing, the image now Matched the board I got, but there was a headline stating that the listing had bee n changed - but did not mention what was changed. The sell did not want to take a refund or a return for the wrong board I could not use and cost me over $200.00 for it. UNTIL I showed proof on the original images on the listing at time of purchase. Quote: Wouldn't this just be minutes apart? yes it would but it shows the item still for sale, then one after the purchase - I just document everything on expensive things to protect myself.

I just went thru a dozen of my closed sales and I cannot alter/edit any of them. I don't think it possible via the 'known' tools - must have figured out some type of backdoor into the listing.

Huh. Can you alter a listing after the item has been bought but you have not yet shipped an item? This is curious, I'm not much of a seller and I can't even choose a future so date like I have seen some do.

ok After the settlement of this transaction I deleted the images, but I was able to get what the original listing looked like and the final listing is like. First image is of the board I wanted take note of the led display: and this is the image of the final way the listing stands. Note the blue arrow indicating a change and that the image is different (look at the LED Display) This is the board I got and couldn't use because it was the wrong Board. Now no fault to the seller as the part number on the board crosses to several different models, usually the is an additional tag identifying whish oven it goes to - the seller did not know that. They sent me a board , changed the images to match and sent it out.

You cannot alter an order after purchase - I just checked on one awaiting payment. I think your experience is related to the ebay seller having multiple quantities for the same listing. That would give them the ability to edit the listing as shown, but not completed orders. I guarantee your original order will have the original pictures you saw.
