The Cheerios variety was never advertised ahead of time. I'm not sure how many years later it was discovered that "some" but not "all" of the dollar coins were different.
Good point.

I am a modest collector of ASE's. I recently hit the goal of having at least one bullion example from each year of the series. Most are ungraded. I did pick up a few TPG slabs as the "raw" coins I found were in pretty bad shape (and I'm not a fan of toned coins). Adding one of these 2024(P) privy marked bullion coins to my collection is on my "want" list. Like Gilly, I am hopeful ungraded examples make it to market by year's end. I think the FOMO clamor for MS69 and MS70 examples ought to die down in four or five weeks.

Greysheet is selling the Star ASE MS70 NGC for 120$. Says the mintage is staying at 50,000 (?). SO seems you will be paying around 85$ for the star.

Good question, Marve65. That appears to contradict the US Mint Press Release (linked by Gilly upthread) which stated: ". . .these coins have a limited mintage of 500,000." As discussed above, the pre-sales from the large sellers for slabbed MS69 and MS70 examples feature paper labels that include " One of the first 50,000 Issued" .

I think (hope?) the going rate for the raw bullion coins will be well south of the $85 mark. The big question is WHEN will those -- offered by ". . .the Mint's network of Authorized Purchasers of bullion coins. . ." -- hit the marketplace.

Things may have changed in the last week or so. I have mine on pre-order, off ebay, but a seller with an online presence, a brick and mortar store, and a great reputation, Pinehurst coins.
So what I'm getting is slabbed, labeled first 50,000 and has the P implied mint mark, even though it's acknowledged these are all Philly.
It is MS69.
In the ebay sale you could make an offer. I'm not sure but I think it was offered at $69, and I offered $63 and they accepted.
So you can be in your price range right now if you want to go down to a MS69.
But I would like to pick up a couple raw ones too
