I think it would get an F-12 as in hand there aren't any hairlines that would suggest that it was cleaned, I doubt the toning would get it detailed but you can never tell what the grader might call it.

I agree, VG-08 sounds about right. Looks like nice subtle natural toning.

That's a real looker, johnhenry! By the way, natural toning won't details a coin.

VG-10 or F-12. Toning looks OK but is unlikely to add much value to this common and heavily worn Walker.

Are you planning on sending this in for grading?

I do plan on getting it and some other coins certified at some point in the future (>10 years) unless something comes up.

Looking like VG10 (could go 08 but leaning towards 10), great toning. How did you end up with this piece?

I saw this Walker by pure chance as I originally wanted to get some coins I had sent in to get graded by PCGS. Once the coins came back I went in to get them and I usually buy at least one coin when I go in (As I just hate being seen as a tire kicker).

So, I looked around for about 2 1/2ish and found some coins I liked then he said that he'd recently picked-up some raw junk/constitutional silver (Dimes, Quarters, Halves) so I checked them out. I was able to find some Washingtons I needed for the book and just decided to check out the Walking halves just in case I found one I needed.

I found it in one of the rolls, wanted it, and so I got it (luckily the owner doesn't really care for toning especially when they're this circulated) so I was able to get it for melt.

This is likely my longest post. So, I do apologize for the tiny wall of text

a couple point on your coin

just because there would be no hairlines does not mean a coin was not cleaned. one of the most popular cleaning techniques is chemical dip which does not leave any hairlines.

a 43 half is extremely common coin. in its present condition it has a retail value of $12. lets say you send the coin to PCGS, you will pay a $69 subscription fee, a $23 grading fee plus shipping and insurance both ways.

there are only 2 reasons to slab a coin

1. its a rare coin and requires certification and preserved
2. the coins value exceeds grading fees so that there is a substantial remaining profit AND you are planning on selling it.

i don't think your coin meets that criteria.

Nice looking but you would be wasting money sending it to get graded.
