Hey all,

I'm trying to get more information on what an 1858/7 flying eagle would look like but am having trouble. I may be way off the mark here, but I appreciate the help even if I'm wrong. Under the scope this one looks a little fishy and I was wondering what you guys thought?

Been working a lot on my camera skills, let me know if I'm improving please. I know the reverse shot didn't come out well, and unfortunately if this is an 8/7 it kinda stinks as the reverse is in bad shape.

The 1858/7 overdate itself is subtle, but the most useful diagnostic is the broken wing tip, which your coin does not have.

Not the overdate to my eye. Please show a closeup of the entire field between the eagle and the date.

There should also be a die chip above the first 8 roughly 3/5ths of the way up to the eagle. Not an 8/7 but keep looking.

There is a second overdate for this year, the S-7. It also has a very bold DDO, which this coin does not exhibit.

Your coin appears to be a known variety however. It does look like the Large Letter/Low leaves reverse variety.

Taking the condition of the Reverse into account, is it worth anything? Ballpark is ok considering the picture quality. Thanks for all the info everyone

Even with the damage it wouldn't surprise me to sell for 15$ - 20$ on ebay.
