Someone please explain to me why this Dime is worth the selling price in the picture? BUT, my dime is just a dime?

to the CCF, whatsmycoinworth! That dime is just damaged, and worth only 10 cents. A person can ask whatever they want for a coin - but that does not mean it is worth it or that they will sell it for that price.

ebay is full of coins that are just damaged. Sellers are often ignorant and don't know any better. Some sellers sell damaged coins on purpose to try to ripoff uneducated buyers. Damaged coins like this one (heat damage), are only worth face value. They're not errors. I would suggest studying error-ref.com so you can learn what are actual errors and what aren't errors. Once you learn about errors, you'll have a much better understanding on how the minting process works. You'll know that this can't happen during the minting process.

That coin is definitely not worth $999. The seller is 1) trying to take advantage of someone or 2) Has no idea what an actual error coin is. & I agree w/ Hondo and E&V.

asking prices does not mean selling or as others have pointed out it may just be a cover for a different purchase i.e. possibly shipment will include drugs or be payment for something different

agreed - that coin above is heat damaged as well.
It looks like the seller is trying to hide that and post only very blurry images.
Notice that the seller only has 9 feedback points - something I tend to stay away from.
what is the link to that seller? We have folks her that can get the listing removed..

What grounds would there be for removing the listing? It isn't counterfeit. Maybe a little misinformation in the description
