Please help Identify this 1982 penny. Coin does not have a smooth edge, more of a dime edge.

Your coin is showing severe Die Deterioration on both sides. The dies were very worn when it struck your coin. Reminds me of the one I found in 2018. http://goccf.com/t/322204

The edge has my scratching my head. I wonder what caused it?

Appears to be smaller in diameter with letters touching all around the peripheral, makes me think it when through the dryer device.

I don't think it's a Dryer Coin. You can see heavy die flow lines and the mushiness of the devices. This is a severe case of Die Deterioration. The dies that struck this coin were heavily worn.

This is either a very heavily worn die, which may suggest a heavily worn collar as well, or it's a Dryer Coin. Full pics of the coin, both sides, may help. I'm leaning toward it being a very worn die/collar combo.

Can't have vertical striations on the edge of a coin that's been stuck in a commercial dryer as the edge is the first thing to wear. If the coin's horizontal plane was being reduced those striations would be rubbed out first.

Just my Opinion,

Clearly An Extremely Worn Die Struck This Poor 1982 Lincoln Memorial cent .....

.If We trace the Stages This Die went through, How much longer did it Last, I Think Not Many More till it Exploded, ...

I Too Would Appreciate Better, Clearer Pictures, Please Thanks for Sharing, MD

Looks like a heavy Ridge Ring on top obverse which might indicate worn die.

I still think this was caused by a heavily worn die/collar combo. Thanks for the extra pics!
