Nice find. I think the doubling was caused by the Die Subsidence error.

Interesting subject and good coin example. I am currently reading the online literature.

Very nice job on the pics. I have always liked and been interested these since it was explained to me several years ago. I need to take time and get pics of all I have collected over the years. Mike mentions there being at least eight different dies, maybe he has all of them and will chime in. I did notice there was extreme deterioration to the outer letters, not sure if it may be related to the doubling though, it may be part of the anomaly.

Greg, here is a link I found from a little while ago that I searched this site for other examples of this and have a few extended links about this anomaly. One of them has pics that Coop included, showing eleven examples, maybe one matches yours. Also Robs thread has one that looks like it may have the "doubling" yours shows. Thanks for the feedback here.
makecents- Rob's coin is similar but not as strong as this example. His has a different obverse die too judging by the MM location.

Yeah, I did not think it was from the same die, just similar looking "doubling", making me think it may be caused by the anomaly. Yours is a nice example, mine are in less stellar condition.

Very nice, thank you for sharing, I learned something new today.
I think I may have found a similar one recently but tossed it.
