I recently acquired this coin unattributed. Curious to see your opinions on the grade. There is a spot of corrosion on the reverse but given the rarity I would expect the coin to be net graded. I have it at G-6. I Should have results on the grade in a few weeks.

Holy smokes!!!! That's a crazy find. Rim dings worry me a little. Although since most of the existing examples are low grade with issues, I think this has a very solid chance at straight grading. Congrats on the pick!!

I agree with you, I like it at G-6.

You planning on keeping her or flipping for profit?

Here are a couple comparable examples:

S-33 is second only to S-48 (Starred Reverse) in terms of EAC collector demand.
That is an excellent find, and in my opinion, at least G4 with few detracting issues, besides the rim bumps. The surfaces are solid.
Congratulations!

Thank you all for the opinions and the congratulations!

If this were any other 1794 Large Cent I would agree with the Good details conclusions, but as others have stated nearly every single surviving example of this variety has problems as significant or worse than this coin and are nearly always net graded, the VG-8 Plate coin in particular has very heavy corrosion and looks to be net to 8 from a VF details: https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...oke-bn/35564

jacrispies: This piece is likely going to go to stacks in their March auction, I don't have a huge attachment to EAC myself and it's tough to justify keeping a coin of such significant value, the decision was not an easy one though.

PCGS Gave this an AG-3. Heavy net grade for the corrosion, I think it could have gone 4. Still happy with a straight grade though!

I would recommend that you send it back to PCGS, this is 100% worth resubmission. Especially considering the massive price jumps at every grade level. If you consign it to Stack's March Showcase, we can send it in for you.

Here is the PCGS AG-3 plate, looks like apples and oranges. Your example is superbly smooth in comparison.

I think that's probably going to be the plan Jacrispies, I was hoping for a minimum of 4 especially considering that plate coin. You guys already handled the first sub so I'll probably just have my contact resub it. Would it be worth trying at NGC do you think?

NGC is also a good choice, you can discuss with your contact further details and ideas. If it grades well at NGC, you can also try to cross to PCGS at that grade level. With the potential for this coin, all options are worth considering.
