Hello everyone, found while replacing front steps from wood to concrete buried in ground. Lightly cleaned with distilled water in a little bit of dawn, dish soap. That's it. Pat dry with paper towel. Any help info thoughts on this coin would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I see a lot of errors in it errors as far as letters and Numbers In head and throughout the coin. Also feel like I see a couple of cracks or a possible delamination, but this could just be me. Only other info I have on this is it's been buried at least 15 years. My daughter and I are very interested

@ato, first welcome to CCF. We are glad that you and your daughter are here to learn. Second, these are great overall pictures, but if you have questions about a specific design element, then please add a close-up picture of just that region. Right now, I am not seeing any mint errors, but rather light circulation wear plus environmental exposure.
Also, one last thing, please please please don't clean your coins.

Quote: buried in ground. Very cool to find lost coins. And yes, environmental toning from being buried. Not sure what the striations are from on the obverse - maybe something that was buried on top of it.

to CCF And I can honestly say with 100% accuracy that this was a dug coin - environmental conditions eroded this coin.

Just odd shaped staining....plus your coin's a far date so safe to spend. However I do see you found something priceless...spending time with your daughter. to CCF good luck on future finds and have fun.

She is the best. Single dad full time. Value of the coin that we hold is coming up with the story in the life of the coin has gone through.

Quote: I get don't wash or clean coins Well, to a point. If you have a common coin only worth face value it isn't going to hurt anything.
