Just finishing up a BU box of 2024 D cents and voila! A major strike through. Can't tell if it was string or a piece of wire.

Worth submitting to PCGS? What do you think?

That's actually pretty cool. The fibers in the piece of string are quite visible!
Of course having it graded, in my opinion, would not be worth it.

Nice find! 2X2 worthy but I wouldn't spend the money to have it graded.

Neat find.
The lines in the depression make me think those are roller lines. They all seem to be going NNE-SSW instead of being parallel to each other.

I agree, or the striations that Will Brooks did a study on, with shield cents. I tried to find something on the study he did but could not come up with it, maybe on CoinWorld or Errorscope?

Cool!
Any chance the lines in the depression are from very small gauge twisted pair wire (34 AWG)? Or cotton thread, bonded nylon thread, or other types of thread? Wouldn't they have a twisted appearance like that under magnification? And wouldn't that transfer to the coin when struck through?
I could be way off here, but it kind of looks like that to me.
