Hello all. As an American who lives in Michigan, a border state, is there anyway besides actually crossing the border into Canada that I can get Canadian coins?

I got some Canadian quarters awhile back on accident and I find them quite interesting.

A lot of us get them from CA, plus they are in southern Ontario

There are some sellers on ebay that sell "exchange". Just factor in the exchange rate and shipping cost when bidding.

@Humanist1287 - There's always the Royal Canadian Mint.

Free standard shipping when you spend $100 or more (Canada and US only)

I would look into coin shows within a driving radius that you are willing to travel. Coin dealers at these U.S. shows that specialize in world coins rather than just U.S. coins will have Canadian material. After they get to know you and what you are interested in many of them will have stuff for you to look at next show.

You have over 50 posts, so you can post your want list. I'm sure there's a number of members on here that have at least some of what you are looking for. Once you hit 250 posts, you can trade with members.

Wait, are you trying to get these coins at face value?

Check out coinzip.com for coin shows in your area. The Michigan State Numismatic Society show will be this week in Warren Mi, right in your backyard. 125 dealers & exhibits. There are literally dozens of coin shops in the Meto area. You could also check with your local bank. Good luck.

I am not really looking for anything fancy, BU or anything like that. I'd basically just like some raw coin to look through, similar to coin rolls.

Without crossing the border I would say you are pretty much out of luck unless you want to take the long drive to Windsor Ontario which is less than 16 miles from your residence.

A couple of thoughts from a Canadian who does the same but in reverse.
1. Even if you cross the boarder then what, most banks here won't give you the time of day unless you have an account with them.
2. Once you acquire some rolls what do you do with your culls. In Canada I have no where to return any form of US coinage.
3. Types of rolls (bank wrapped or customer wrapped). In Canada bank or,Loomis wrapped are pretty much the kiss of death because of the governments' ARP program.
4. Denominations to search, with no cent since 2012 you're basically searching for old silver.

I get my rolls from my brother-in-law who's originally from upstate New York and is kind enough to bring me 20-30 dollars of Pennies and nickels every 4-6 weeks when he goes back to visit family. When I started I was searching everything dollars, Halves, quarters etc. but it became expensive and I felt bad asking the brother in-law to not just get rolls but return them as well.
Now just Pennies and nickels and I donate the my penny culls to coins for kids. It's a fun hobby that I'm prepared to loose money on for a good cause.

Yeah... I think I will abandon this notion. There seems to be no easy way to do this.

I thought about trying to purchase some rolls off ebay, but haven't really seen much within a decent price.

When I go to Toronto I will go to 2-3 different banks and buy rolls and I DON'T have an account with them. They will sell you rolls but you can't cash any in.

Yeeeeah. I haven't been through Toronto in like 10 years.

I did actually have a little bit of luck finding specific rolls or sets yesterday with some Canadian quarters.
Canadian nickels are pretty cool, too. There seem to be a lot of those available.
