Hello community. I hope you have had a good day so far and still have the energy to help me understand what I have here.

2012 D Penny. The weight is 2.505 grams. I do not think this is PMD, but I could be wrong again. What do you think happened to this coin?

I appreciate your input.

I don't know what exactly happened, but someone beat the ever-living daylights out of this coin with some implement. It is definitely PMD, sorry. Nice pics, though.

That is full on PMD - it appears like somebody took the rim of another cent coin and a hammer and tapped it into this coin.

Yes, post-strike damage. The coin didn't leave the striking chamber in that condition. Keep it as a fun curiosity.

Having a nice tone like that could have been in a gravel road and run over many times. Might also have been under a table leg or just beat up by some type of tool? In any case, it is just a damaged coin now.

Definitely PMD. Maybe a parking lot coin?

Thank you all. PMD was the first guess, but then the damage got so baked in that it fooled me. I do see repeated patterns as an indication or repeated punch and twisting.

I do have a collection of PMDs, as a reminder of the brutality of environment on human inventions . This one is near the top of the list.

Thanks again.

Looks like someone has taken a ball point pen to it.
