I had this in a flip and it partially dislodged. Was sitting in a wooden drawer for many years and you can see how it toned on the part that was out of the flip.

Kinda like the obverse, but not the reverse.

Rotate it in the partial flip and put it back in the drawer so the rest of the coin can catch up.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I hate to say it but clearer pics may help - the toning you show seems a bit crappy.

LOL Coinfrog - I always try to make my posts with actions that can back them up - this is why I aske for better photos - This was a photo of one of my ASE's where the toning was actually shown clearly......

.......pushing up your post numbers, are you................. Sorry Marve you know I had to do it.

Back to topic...I think most of us can visualize the toning....Jimbucks has shared some wonderful coins over the years...however his photos skills might not measure up to the coins. Wonder if drawer bottom was stained or just Poplar.

A while back I had a few ASEs (stackers) kept in a cotton sock...couldn't find them for idk a few months at least...finally found them behind a box next to my cats litterbox...top 1 toned. Some day when I get organized I'll share.

Very interesting. I agree with the suggestion to put it back and rotate regularly.

It's just a bullion coin, so no extra value due to toning, just thought I'd show the unexpected results.

Well at least we know that the flips you used do protect a silver coin (if it were completely inside it)
