Durwood, very nice job on the pics! You said revisited, and I'm not sure I saw the first time you posted this. Struck throughs are not one of my strongpoints but this one has me wondering. Mostly because of the difference in color, possibly leading to different times between strike and the occurrence of the possible struck through. That being said, it could be from lighting. I like the "look" of it for a struck through, it does not look like typical damage to a coin after the strike.

I see it as PMD...4th photo, right side of trench looks like raised "metal" traveling south (worn off of the top surface of the S). Have you ran a toothpick gently over the field to see if it gets hung up before the gouge?

Looks more like abrasions that have dulled the fields and dug into the details.

 Scratches, not struck-throughs.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Have to agree, at least so far.

Have to agree with PMD here. Scratches are on top of the coin details, Post Mint.. It is strange that the rim of the coin wasn't affected at all.

I feel like it is PMD.

This is an angled shot of the "S". Greasy fingers, from what I learned from Coop, if it's post mint damage, there would be raised metal along the indentation like if you would have scatched it with a razor blade. Right?

This one is from about a 40 degree side pic.

It seems highly conspicuous to me that the two lines are relatively far apart, but also precisely parallel. What sort of struck through object would produce such a shape? I find it hard to believe you could land two threads or long strands of wire across the entire planchet face in a rapidly moving machine, and have them be parallel. I could, however, easily imagine getting dragged across a surface or through a machine could generate two long, thin, parallel scratches.

This is looking down on the bottom steps of the memorial. Notice how the markings follow the step at the very bottom. What is the thickness of that bottom step? Would there be raised metal from the scratch? FYI the brightness of the step is from the light reflecting off of my fingers.
