It looks to involve the Rim of the coin, so a Cud I would think..

TACC thanks and I saw the same connection to the rim and then I see that separation between the rim and a large portion of the Cud ?, and I didn't see any Cud in cudsoncoins for that year mint mark if it's a Cud .

See what the rest of the group thinks...it's borderline for sure.

I'm not sure it would be classified as a Cud because the piece of the die seems to be there. Maybe a pre-cud? This is in a grey area for me.

Honestly, to me it looks like a folded over lamination or a rim apron that got ripped where it connects to the rim. It looks like you could slide a toothpick under the metal over the O. Is it truly a solid chunk of metal that is 100% part of the coin surface directly beneath it?

Brandmeister I don't think it's solid and I kind of agree with you that it looks folded , all thou I like to mess with toothpick to get some dirt off some coins I'm afraid to use it here in case that it peel off and I wont be able to glue it back .

yep, I was leaning on a fold over lamination as Brand stated.

I'm thinking a folded lamination issue. Not a Cud.

The folded-over delam explanation fits best for me. Nice.
