That is plausible but full images of the front and back of the coin will be halpful.  to the Community.

Agree with acid exposure on this coin, note that the copper core disintegrated more so than the cupro-nickel layers.

Hey thanks everyone for your responses and taking the time to look at my post. They info was helpful and thats exactly what it looks like happened with this one. I have a few more I will be posting soon. I'm looking forward to seeing what yall think about them. thanks again

I found a quarter with exact similar damage . It was stuck under the sand on the beach. It's obviously corroded but not necessarily acid. Although it looks like acid PMD. Best regards, EH1
