...I thought I would post it here to get more sets of eyes on it.

The reverse shows two raised lines, each emanating from the upper left and right corners of the Memorial building and extending to the rim.
They have the appearance of being regular old plating bubbles, but their placement is of interest.

Even though the lettering looks doubled, it's just the effect from the lighting angle necessary to bring up the lines in question.

Any thoughts?

@cas, yes I agree that those are die cracks. As noted by @sna, those sharp corners are areas of high stress and tend to form cracks first. Sorta like this:

Thanks!
I was actually hoping it would be die cracks, but I wanted opinions from more knowledgeable collectors before I ventured to declare them as such.

I think I will hold on to this coin...

Oddly enough, I found it lying on the street.

Yep, you nailed it...American Optical.
I acquired this instrument back in the 1990s while working in the AV repair shop at a large school district.
They dismantled their biology labs and threw out a lot of equipment.

Very Nice scope! I may or may not have absconded with a set of
American Scientific balance scales from my High School in/around 1979.
