Recently I finally made the decision to fill my volume two Lincoln cents book with the final cent. The 1931s Wheat penny. The coins obverse is not 180 degrees to the reverse. Seems like an error coin but I can't seem to find any info on error coins as such. Hope my pics make sense with the makeshift tape indicator. What do you guys think? send it in for grading? fake?

I'll say VF for the grade.
Errers and Varietys.

Thanks a bunch. A rotated die makes sense! pcgs appears to only grade with rotated die over 20 degrees off. Would you get this coin graded?

Something looks off to me. The top of the MM looks flat and the obverse is very similar to some fakes I've seen.

I agree with BadThad. The coin looks off and the mintmark is kinda funky.

@just, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please confirm that the weight of this piece is within mint specs? Thx.

Not genuine was my first thought. It looks like a Chinese copy.

My apologies for not adding the weight as it can be a strong contributing factor of its authenticity. At home I do not have have the most accurate scale, I plan on taking it to work where I have access to 4 decimal scales. But it weighed 3.01-3.02-3.00. So it averaged low I guess but also not out in left field. It is non ferrous.
Can someone add a link for these Chinese counter fits?

Nope. Even if it was the full 180 it would only be worth a few cents.
The dies are held in place by a set screw. Set screws loosen.

@just, best practice is to only start one thread per coin, so I've merged your two threads. I'm glad to see that you are getting robust feedback!

Does not look genuine to me. Reverse rim, obverse lettering and date are a red flag.

Thanks for the input all! I plan on taking to a local guy who has been doing this a long time and really knows his. Will update when I know more. Hoping this is not a dud.
