Got it from Heritage last night $2,220. Been wanting it since a kid.
I just didn't have the energy to really shop.

to the CCF, michaelclarke1978! You can't go wrong with a 1955DDO. It's a beautiful coin and you're lucky to have such a nice one - even with the details.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Surfaces Smoothed can only mean Pencil Eraser! See kids never a good idea to pencil eraser your coins.
Naw JK'ing.
That '55 DDO would be just fine for me at that price, that's one of my 3 all time US Coin DDO's on my bucket list.
Nice Job!

The prices have been going up on those over the years. Looks like a real nice example, and "surfaces smoothed" is usually undetectable by eye. So 2200$ wasn't bad - congrats!

to the CCF

It looks like a beauty to me. Congratulations on the purchase.

I paid $2000 for the following raw example - now in a PCGS AU55 holder. So your price is not out of line.

Nice example. Congrats.

I have a friend who bought an MS one with funds from his paper route in the 60's for $125 and was admonished by his mom for spending so much!
He continues to get the last laugh.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Nice coin, can not go wrong with that coin and I do think you got a good deal. In a few years you will look back and wonder why you even questioned about the value. Nice pick up.
