If it were pre- strike wouldn't the obverse show weakness in that area? Just thinking out loud.

Would the lam. area have more pressure on it when struck resulting in a slight tilt causing more metal on "In God", rather than on "In Trust"?

To me it looks more like a strike through cloth or something else. There is no look of damaged copper like a lam would have. It's more of a smooth surface. Maybe a weight might tell?
