I remember seeing this 1945 Wheat penny when I first started collecting and thought nothing of it but nowI'm wondering... what you think?

I'm thinking Post-Mint Damage. If it was just missing WE TRUST without any of the other deformities I would maybe say Struck through errors?

PMDThe missing part of the rim indicates that. Looks like it has been squeezed with something.

Maybe used as a screwdriver, regardless it is damage.

Yes my vote is also for those rim bruises to be damage rather than a mint error.

I'd weigh it. Looks like a tapered planchet to me. Likely comes in around 2.85g.
