These aren't the modern Chinese high quality counterfeit.
Instead they look like contemporary Chinese counterfeits that circulated. Pretty crude

I'm sure there are a lot more examples. Please feel free to post yours!

Haven't been to the flea market lately, these were readily available back then.

I've been reluctant to post here because I need to sit down with the coins and have a one-on-one with someone that knows more about them than I do.
In other words, I don't know how to tell if some were made back in the day or many decades later. And I'm not sure just a picture can do that.

I came across this pair in one of the binders.
One regarded as authentic and the other not.
Contemporary counterfeit?
If true then was the non-genuine piece made in the 1920's?
1980's? 90's?
As stated in the previous post: I lack the skills to really know.

Interesting examples Albert.

This is my opinion.
1) Manchuarian - looks modern cast
2) 1930 Szechuan 100 cash. Can't tell but potential modern as well. This is an odd example as the original ones are not supposed to have dentrils but this one does.

The next ones are a bit tricker. I thought both may be ok but usually the weight and edge test would reveal most of the basic counterfeit. If I had to name one, maybe the second one as it shows some odd wear. This is supposed to be around 5.3g from memory. I believe more than 700+ million were struck so they are very common. Maybe a couple of decades ago, these were often found in junk coin lot.

This is my example of example

Just to make it harder, this 10 cents is NOT genuine as it is magnetic

And to throw in another wild piece - this is a more modern fake

I began looking through the albums of dollars and wondered if apparently worn down dragon scales could indicate a circulated coin?
I don't think so in this case.
This coin is not listed among Kann's "mint sports" and was not known to collectors until 1975.

Point taken. Sikang was a former province and is now part of Szechan and Tibet. That's one coin that I have yet to hunt down...

I would find it hard to believe that the coin circulated. It looks too modern. I have to do some research about Qing Dynasty of what this coin purchasing power was like back then. I believe this would be the equivalent of today's 100 dollars if not more.

Here's some examples
