The NGC submission guidelines want us to submit our coins in Mylar flips (i.e. without PVC) of a certain size, namely 2.5x2.5 inch double-sided flips.

I live in Europe, and I have yet to find any vendors of coin holders which offer these online. I saw one offer for 60x60 mm (2.5 in = 63.5 mm) and it said "Made of PVC plastic" (or its German equivalent -- obviously NOT PVC-free!) Although 2x2 flips are quite common, I am pretty sure that most of these also contain PVC.

NGC has a submission site in Munich, so I wrote them an email. They also did not know; said they have their own private vendor or source, but one which does not sell them to the general public.

Perhaps I could find a vendor in the U.S. who would send these to an address in Europe? Who do most people buy these flips from?

Thanks for any tips!

I've gotten them through Amazon, or perhaps directly from Wizard Coin Supply? I assume they would ship to Europe.

@Zurie - thanks!

The problem with Amazon is that where I live, in Switzerland, I have to buy through the German Amazon site where I am registered. Due to EU/Swiss arcane customs and VAT regulations, most of the time I cannot order directly from US " Amazon dot com", but have to use " Amazon dot de". Now somehow the US Amazon dot com site, even if the seller might ship to Switzerland, will show "This item cannot be shipped to your location". If I try to log into the US Amazon site, it will redirect me to the German site.

I have found some sellers on ebay which offer these flips. But shipping to Switzerland is prohibitively expensive from the U.S. (between $18 to $25 shipping for a $9 product?) I may just have to go ahead and do this if I cannot find any other alternative.

There are some excellent international vendors of coin holders, e.g. Lighthouse ("Leuchtturm" over here) or Hartberger, but they don't seem to offer this kind of holder.

Just use 2x2 flips .Done that for 15 years without issue .
You will not get any blow back .
The 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 are extremely hard to find .
When you do they are Chinese Made .

In the meantime, I have had more feedback from the Munich office of NGC:

1) If coins are submitted in any holders other than 2.5x2.5 inch, they are removed and repacked in 2.5x2.5 holders before grading;

2) Since I live in Switzerland, I can only submit coins in person.

I was planning to travel to Munich to submit my coins anyway, because I do not trust the mail service here. FedEx or DHL might have been options, but I think going there in person would be less hassle.

However, due to recent developments internationally, I do not know whether it makes economic sense right now to slab any of my coins (due to possible tariffs coming up). I think I might wait a year or two before taking this step.
