I got this penny in recently and am wondering if anyone can give me any info on it? Seems like a 1979 and a 1974 ended up striking over each other somehow and on a nickel planchet (was told this by an dealer who's been in the business almost 50 years). Lincoln is doubled and flipped along with 2 dates and the reverse is also doubled with a 40%ish flip I think.

Called a 'Vise Job" it is created by placing a coin on top of another coin and pressing it in a vice, or whacking with a hammer. Note the reverse/backwards features showing. Ultimately just damage. PMD.

Agree A vise job aka a garage job. A intentionally damaged cent. Better find a new dealer if he doesn't know the difference between an error and damage.

Here's a question - humor me. Why is LIBERTY in a straight line but the 1979 date isn't?

And while I'm at it, why is the 1974 date so large and why is there a normal sized D mintmark under the last T of TRUST?

I agree that this is a vise job, but it is a weird one. The reverse side is easy to see the main design and the mirrored Vise pressed in design, but on the obverse. Why does Lincoln appear up side down in ln relation to the Primary date and liberty? and why is the primary date not horizontal in relation to liberty?

Giving this one a second/third look and I see what Marv & DB are saying. Not your typical results on a "vise job", but what is the alternative? This coin is the result of minting error?..or is it just very creative damage?

The reverse is kinda funky too - why is the top and base of the memorial curved? (Both memorials) . And "ONE CENT" looks doubled. I'm not saying this is an error by no means but sure is interesting to know how this was done.

I'm thinking post-strike damage.
