LOL. Full disclosure: those are the seller's pictures, presumably with a real camera setup. They are nice photos though. =)

TPG's love this type of toning and will bump the coin for this look. I think most of the marks on the obv maybe just the toning being broken. MS66 would not surprise me

Yeah, I had questions about those areas. The silver was bright white there. At first, I thought it might be scuffs, but there is no visible interaction on the surface. I'm relatively new to silver coin toning. Does this happen naturally? Usually when you see it on silver coins, the toning is inverted, with tiny patches of toning and mostly white silver.

I also had a question about these apparent bubbled spots. They appear in the darkest toning. Does that cross the line into corrosion, or is that just accepted for vintage toned coins?

The marks that you describe and pics following them kinda reimind me of slider (plastic sleeves) running over the top of the coin removing the toning or touching the coin so as to not allow the coin to tone...?
Some albums seem to find a sweet spot...while others depend on how far they are depressed...
He's still a beauty...and I would call him a slider of 58-63
Thanks again for sharing!

I have a really hard time grading toned coins. Especially from photos. The field hits to right of Washington look significant but other than that I don't see much of anything holding this back. Toning could be hiding something.

Premiums put on coins with toning are not my cup of tea. That being said this is a beautiful coin.

I think the eye appeal takes this close to the Gem category. I'm not in the slider camp.

Thanks for the help, guys! =)

This coin will go into the PCGS submission pile.

I will append a couple indirect sunlight pictures, attempting to capture the surface luster. The portions that are not strongly toned still have a lot of warmth.
