Hi folks this is my first grading submission and my complements on your providing a useful service grading serving in place of the money hungry rip off slabbers that preform a vital/ necessary service for an excessive big time overcharge we should be able to get 1 or 2 graded coins without the $10 service charge and shipped budget USPO not big $ fed ex. anyway Did the photos come out ok? is there anything I can do to improve them? I'm guessing this is an AU not MS what's your opinion? Is it FS? Thanx javascript:insertsmilie('')

The photos are a little harsh with the lighting to see detailed surfaces. Looks like it has some circulation wear so your assumption of AU sounds about right. FS is only given to MS coins I think.

But you also have a few contact marks breaking up the stairs so for me, I would not call it FS. Some would ask for clear close ups of the stairs to be sure.

to CCF!

You photos aren't bad, perhaps a little washed out in some spots. From what I can see, I'd say AU-58. Full steps only applies to MS coins, but yours is pretty close. This might be a good candidate for a long acetone soak to see if those obverse spots dissolve off--it looks like something splattered on there in the past.

THANKS I used one of the circle lights I found out about on your site on the third high beam so I'll try a lower next time and the acetone was helpful if I was looking to save it. I want to send some more for your info. with better lighting should I start a new window?

Yes, go ahead and start a new thread for each coin to be graded.

These photos are large enough to see the coin, but a bit harsh with the light to wash out some of the detail.

I grade mid-AU and not FS.

i'll go with UNC details (damagad). based on your comment I'm assuming this was sent in for grading. if so, my question would be why spend any money getting this coin graded? And to add to that pretty much any Jefferson nickel unless its FS or MS67. just curious.

i would recommend posting your coins here first just to ensure the costs are worth grading. if this coin grading straight, which I doubt, it would be about a $1-2 coin at best if its MS. the eye appeal would kill any collector value

i'd be interested in seeing what it grades. your photos are good enough to grade the coin but not to assess the steps. from what I see there are too many marks across them to pull the designation
