Any thoughts or opinions of this weird nickel I have? 2001 P Jefferson nickel, it has no collar, the letters that are on it look fat and bubbled. Monticello is missing.

Interesting. An accurate weight to two decimal places could tell us more. Consider posting full pics of the obverse and reverse--helps to establish context for what we're looking at. Thanks.

To CCF! Can you post full obverse and reverse pictures? Could be a Dryer Coin.

It weighs 4.89 g. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to get the pictures from my phone small enough to share. I'm working on it. Thanks for your reply.

I've seen many nickels along a similar line. It's a combination of Die Deterioration and circulation flattening.

Looks to me like -Detail Erasing Die Wear. Check Error-ref.com (in their search box) and you decide. Or it's just a plain Dryer Coin.

to CCF...have fun and good luck on future finds....
