Hey all, I will be posting some of the new pieces I recently purchased. I'll be posting a new thread for each of the different Error types, One thread might be too long otherwise. What is the other error on the third coin?
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Nice looking examples. John Sullivan says it is possible to collect the entire 50 State Quarter series with a missing reverse clad layer. That would be an impressive feat. You've shown 2 so far. 4 different serial numbers means 4 different coins or 2 pair.

Thank you nickelsearcher! Jon is correct, Not sure about an Obverse collection but Reverse, while more desirable, are more common, though Rare in high grade and Full RED. I had a brief conversation with Fred Weinberg regarding Statehood 25C which he had mentioned it would be an Exciting Collection to have all 50 States missing their Reverse Clad Layers. I have met Fred briefly at different major shows but had more time learning a few things from him when I went to the FUN show in 2016 with my Dad. What an Awesome dude! I have owned many Statehood Quarters missing their Reverse Clad Layers but have sold them, as I am quite Picky with my Collection and they Must be Full RED and have Spectacular Luster like the 4 in this thread! I have a few that I haven't posted in this Forum but perhaps someday. A problem with trying to collect all 50 is Price and Availability, the Mississippi piece I posted in this thread cost me over $800 alone, as it's Super rare in Full RED and Grade. There is a Hawaii missing 85% of the Reverse(MS63) and Cali (MS67) going for $1,710 and $1,980 respectively. Rare states like RI, WV, Mexico, Guam etc I havent yet seen missing their Rev clads. |
