Can you tell me if this is missing the clad I think it is after all my research on both sides. PLUS is it common to be missing a letter? I looked with a 300x magnifier and it is missing the A in dollar completely. My pictures are of regular phone pics and some with magnifier so the color is lighter in the pics. The quarter is almost black and a silver rim both sides.

It's not a missing clad error. It's environmental damage from being buried or outside. You can see the regular color starting to show through.

If it was missing the clad, it would be all copper with no nickel showing.
If you rub your quarter, you may be able to rub the toning off.

Yes, an accurate weight to two decimal places will tell us much. Thanks.

Hard to tell what happened to the A. It could still be stained dark, it might have been scraped away prior to staining, or it might be a Grease Filled Die error.

Most likely what E.V. said; " A buried coin". It has all the signs of one.

! Decimal place is plenty as cladding weighs a gram per side.
