Does not look like it but, this coin throws up a red flag for me as to it's authenticity. The rim does not look right. Also looks matte. These were matte proof but, still draws some concern to me at least. Welcome to the CCF!

It has been in the family since 1907...my great grand father purchased it originally. Has been in the family safe forever. On the website of PCGS it appears to be a "wire rim" matches their photo perfectly. I just know nothing of grading. I appreciate you looking at it...the reverse has some bag marks ?

I was able to post a pic of an MS66 off of PCGS's website.....you can see the rim is the same.

Thank you. I know little about coins other then I love collecting. It really has been in the family since 1907....It is currently at PCGS....I just had no idea if it was unciculated since there are some marks at seven oclock on the reverse. Thank you though

The photo not the best but I think it's MS-61/62, lets see what the pros say.

Thank you for the responses....I would be thrilled with a 61. The pics should magnify if you click n them.

Gold is very hard to judge by pictures on if its UNC or AU, when it gets lower than that its gets easier but distinction between AU-and UNC is very hard for the untrained eye and my eye hasn't seen enough of these to actually be able to tell the difference at least not from a picture. But if your grandfather got this coin in 1907 then chances are its either UNC or saw very little Circulation which would still put it in the category of UNC

This is a beautiful coin, I see no wear at all, I doubt if it was in circulation. From the pictures the rim looks to be the flat rim variety.

sage to CCF! Your pics are over-exposed but from what I can see your coin should go MS63. Can't say more from the images provided. MS60/61 are pretty beat up and yours is not. This appears to be a High Relief and as such would be a very valuable coin. Protect it well. If it is an authentic, high relief, wire rim Saint then it's worth well into 5 figures.

Quote: I would be thrilled with a 61 Is there a scratch on the lower portion of the reverse? Because except for that (and assuming there is no rub on it that would make it go AU), this looks nicer than a 61 coin. Please let us know how it comes back from PCGS. In any case, that is a valuable coin.

A beautiful coin! I would grade a MS62. (It's definitely MS). Definitely also get it graded, for your safety. There are counterfeits, and authentication would be paramount if you're going to sell it. (The grade cost would more than pay for itself on your sale.) And:
