This should be interesting. I don't imagine that they'll sell too many given that the cost will likely be around $2,000. I wonder what the mintage limit will be. The Sacagawea dollars are one of my favorite series, so I'm going to start saving money for one. Since it's 1/2oz, my hope is that it's dimensionally identical to the regular Sacagawea dollars.

Numista has identical diameters for the Sac dollar and the First Spouse coins (26.5mm) but different thicknesses (2mm vs 1.88mm). Close enough -- at least they won't have to resize the designs.

Best-looking circulating coin in the modern era, I'd be all over this if not for the hefty price tag.

Mintage for a comparable piece, the 2014-W gold Kennedy half, was 73,772. Weight of the gold half is 23.33 g.

Interesting. They are nearly identical in size to classic U.S. Gold Eagles and modern U.S. 1/2 oz Gold Eagles.

If priced inline with 1/2 GAE proofs they'd be $2,150 today.

That's a good reference. I think that the mintage will be less because the Sacagawea series isn't as popular and the price of gold is about 2.5 times as much per ounce.

It's a starting point for sure.

1/2 ounce of 24 karat gold is 15.55 grams.
Original retail for the 3/4 oz, 24 karat Kennedy was $1240.00

That's enough data for some casual math. I don't have any intention to purchase the 1/2 oz Au Sac otherwise I'd do it.
