Some real eye candy here:

A huge collection of historic gold coins, recovered from the wall of a house in France after their owner passed away, has been sold for millions of euros at auction.

Auction house Beaussant Lefèvre and Associates told CNN on Thursday that all of the coins had sold in Paris this week, fetching more than 3 million euros ($3.48 million) in total.

The coins were collected by Paul Narce, who lived in a small village in south-west France until his death in 2024, according to Beaussant Lefèvre and Associates.

My dad stored his stock certificates in an old Sears strongbox tucked up inside an opening next to his chimney. Fortunately he showed my sister and I his cache before he died, otherwise they would have been there for eternity. I told him that he could put them in a safety deposit box for free but it had no effect. He didn't believe in electronic certificates and always insisted on paper, and while it might have been possible to reconstruct his holdings it would have been difficult.

The coins shown are ones I'd like to own. Especially the gold 1793 24 livres.

My brother built a hidden safe in his home under some paneling in his bedroom floor that he stored his SLQ 25C - however after his death it only sold at Stacks/Bowers for $200,000. The collection was complete for the series - David Lorenzo SLQ Collection. My bank fees are $175/year - makes me wonder if this is not the way to go - sometimes <BG>.

I pay for one SDP and get another one for free. Chase Bank is not allowing any new SDP rentals around here, so I keep what I have. I pay more than the rental fee to insure the contents.
