Hello again all. I have some coins coming back from PCGS this week and figured why let Numismatic Student have all the fun. I'll post PCGS' grade tomorrow, enjoy!

Agree 64PL. That is one pancake flat strike.

strike issues were prevalent at the no mint this year. a high percentage were soft which we can see on this one around the ear, the eagle breasts lack of detail. dont get confused with wear on this one. keep in mind though that strike is one component of the grading so it does affect the grade

RE: surfaces, its extremely difficult to determine PL or DMPL using a photo as there is no reference to depth. however the deep black fields on this one look more like DMPL. there are some scratches on the cheek and jawline as well as on the ear and on the field in front of the mouth.

after reviewing all the PCGS coins listed with photos I dont think its strong enough to pull MS64

I agree with MS63/64. The extra soft strike may affect the eye appeal portion of the grade. The pictures indicate strong cameo, and when deep mirror coins are photographed you see every little imperfection. No doubt that this coin is beautiful in person.

Probably a 64PL PCGS holder. I can't get past 63PL due to the strike.
