1983 P Lincoln Cent with a secondary, incuse & inverted, TRUST in the corner of the rim and field. (This coin came from an original, tightly rolled OBW roll of cents.) Yes, my first thought was damaged coin as well. But I'm wanting thoughts on other possibilities, because the secondary, reversed "TRUST" doesn't appear to have affected the rim at all. I'm not sure how PSD ("vise job") could affect the field without damaging the rim in this location. Plus, I don't see any pressure ridge around the incuse letters which I would expect to see from PSD. Let me have it... both barrels. Here's an image of the rim by the secondary TRUST showing no damage to the rim.(which I would expect to see on a vise job) Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

That's pretty cool! Possible dropped fillings? Don't know if I have seen multiple letters though.

That is very interesting. I don't suspect damage since it is tight to the rim like that. My guess would be a Struck Through Grease fill that was part of the rim and was flipped over.

The roll was dropped vertically.

While I can't rule out a light "vise job" without a personal examination, it really doesn't look like one to me. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a tilted mule clash involving a second obverse die. Presumably the two dies clacked together before installation, possibly while being mishandled. If I'm right, this is a very significant discovery.

I would be happy to examine it up close. If my hunch proves correct, I would eagerly write it up for Coin Week.

It looks to me like the fonts don't match in size.

Another mule clash like the 1999 would be amazing!
I just wonder how this wouldn't have been discovered before since 1983's are heavily searched.
What rules out a struck through filling so quickly?

I look forward to what Mike Diamond shares ... assuming he gets the coin in hand.
