So I pulled this LMC out of a roll of pennies/cents and if you look close you can see an uplift on the top of obverse of the coin. I have not come across one like this before and was wondering if any knows what causes this type of issue. Hopefully the photos are good enough so you all can see what I am talking about. Thanks again to CCF for helping out. Is this an error or variety?

That's a really worn die. Look how the top of the letters are distorted.
The die should have been retired long before it got to this stage.

@arby, the only thing I would add to the above responses is that for Lincoln Cents, the last part of STATES and OF are very often weakly struck up and the metal seems to flow better into the bottom of Abe's bust. Yours is a good example of this phenomenon.
