I'm new to the forum (only my second post) and I'm trying to learn about errors. Found this in a roll of uncirculated 2023 pennies I had bought to go through a few years ago. Is this an error of some sort? There is nothing on the reverse side of the coin.
Side question: I have about ten rolls of uncirculated 2023-D pennies. Given that the government is doing away from them is it better to keep them in the rolls or go through them, since they won't be made again?
Please post a full image of each side when making enquires. This helps us see the full coin in perspective. It looks like the rim on your cent has been scraped so I would consider it PMD.
Agree with JimmyD that it looks like the copper has been scraped off near the rim. Is it possible some of the cents are circulated? There also appears to be some light fingerprinting.
You said you have ten rolls and if you should keep them? I think it depends on how old you are. If older collectors would have kept unc. rolls from say 1940s, 50s or even 60s would they have a good return on a couple dollar investment?
