Hello,

Can't figure out what type of error this is. The "I" in Liberty and last "5" of 1955 look to be doubled, but I'm 99.9% positive this isn't the case. The reverse looks to be at least AU, but that doesn't match the obverse in any way. Any help with error designation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What you have is extreme Die Deterioration and deterioration doubling. It also looks like your coin may have been previously encased or in a bezel.

On the other topic of the difference between each side of the coin, they are from separate dies and sometimes dies wear at different rates and also one die could be changed out for a new die, while they try to get a little more out of the die for the opposing side.

A good example of Die Deterioration and Die Deterioration Doubling.
