from what I've seen CACG is a little bit tougher when grading. no way this coin is VG. it doesn't matter which TPG grades this coin its VF all day long. I thought it would pass. if the coin was net graded by CACG in a straight VG10 holder instead of detailing it, it might make sense. its always a role of the dice regardless

Who would really care about a miniscule cleaning to get it at $2200? It may easily very well be worth north of $5000
Same logic applied to my Seated dollars, although they are in a much lower price bracket.

It has to have a full LIBERTY for CAC to give it VF, they are very tough with that. Very surprised it fell to VG though, that is harsh.

I agree with the upthread discussions. Technical grade, cleaning, net grade, CAC nonsense, and other observations aside, it's not like there is an abundance of Carson City Seated dollars anywhere. The 1870-CC is the "common" CC date, but it is in demand in any grade. This coin is absolutely collectable and would be an easy sale on any bourse floor.

Oh, I'm kicking myself for not jumping on it when I had the chance, FC. The common CC with ~11k minted.

I was close to buying a couple of GSA CC Morgan's when I thought to myself, everyone has these, millions of them, so I dumped that search and this one was the first one that came up.

For certain, I know that feeling all too well. "The one that got away" will eat us alive if we let it. The only way any of us can move is forward, so look ahead to the next coin you will have an opportunity to buy. With very few exceptions, there will always be another coin of the same date and mint that will show up somewhere sometime, and it may turn out to be a better coin. Sometimes that next coin is a different date or a better eye appeal coin or more affordable or part of a package deal that makes the opportunity even better. Hang in there.
