Thanks. How do you tell it is cleaned? Do you think it is AU or UNC?

I had the same thoughts about an old cleaning because of hairlines. Look at the hairlines around the chop marks in the photo below:

Please take a close up photo of the eagle's neck feathers that are circled in the photo below:

Several things make me pause on this coin.

The rims have uneven thickness. The reverse dentils look uneven, have random dots in them, and especially below TRADE seem to have uneven spacing. The hair behind the eagle's neck looks like it has one fewer long strand than should be there and the fourth shorter strand seems straight, rather than bending, and the neck feathers don't look right for the rest of the reverse details (claw and arrows). The eagle's eye doesn't look right. The "N" in UNITED has chips on it that look either like casting dots or oddly located die chips. And the recessed damaged area between the "D" of UNITED and first "S" of STATES caught my eye. The chop marks on the obverse are heavy, but I don't see corresponding bulges or flattening on the reverse opposite the chop marks. The photo of the edge reeding is inconclusive.

I'm hesitant on authenticity of this one.

I'd like to know a reliable weight for the coin and whether it is magnetic, and to see a better photograph of the edge reeding.

Thanks!

good catch FC. Trade dollars need to be more scrutinized for authenticity due to high number of counterfeits. I think you're spot on to question this ones authenticity
