The mint could spur some interest in 2027 halves if they change the design. . .

Quote: The mint could spur some interest in 2027 halves if they change the design. . . From what I've read and can infer from the U.S. Mint's statement ("A John F. Kennedy design will return to the half dollar in 2027."), it is likely that there will be design changes after the 2026 special design. Which is why people are saying that this is the last year for the JFK half dollar. It's more accurate to say that 2025 is the last year for the JFK half dollar as we know it.

I don't recall where I read it, maybe somewhere here on CCF, but someone mentioned the Mint might change which direction Kennedy's portrait is facing, etc.

Oh, yes, there have been some questionable Presidential dollar designs.

Thinking about it, I can't justify paying $150 for the entire set when I'm no longer collecting the silver proof sets after ATB was retired. If I want the Kennedy silver half, I may just look for one aftermarket (see if I can save $50 or more since I'm sure it'll still be expensive on its own).

Quote: If I want the Kennedy silver half, I may just look for one aftermarket... Good plan. Yeah, $150 is dumb. As I've said before in other threads, I am likely done with all annual Mint sets (at least, direct from the Mint) with the possible exception of one uncirculated set once the 250th sets are out in 2026. 2027 is a BIG question mark for me at this point but I'm actually looking forward to what I can do with that extra money every year. Fill a few holes, buy a pinball machine, put it in a 529, etc.

...and received my shipping notice a little earlier today. I haven't seen the quarters in silver yet; looking forward to that.
