coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 06/03/2009 08:31 am John1 hit it on the head. The reason the FG could not be missing is that the entire reverse is on the master die. Nothing was added like in the case of hand punched mint marks prior to 1989. So the FG was either polished out or filled with something on the die before striking. I've found one and then found out what really happened. I've still got it somewhere and I think it is the same year as yours. Report this Post to the Staff
