I have been purchasing BU red Lincolns from a buyer, young8590 that has been recommended to me from someone on this forum. All transactions had been smooth with immediate payment by me and nice coins delivered. When I received the coins I did what I always do, left positive feedback. My own rating is 100% positive. Today I messaged young8590 about a Buy It Now listing for a 1940 BU Red Lincoln. The listing title and picture was of a 1940 and the description was a 1940-D. I got a reply that it was a 1940. When I tried to purchase it I learned that young8590 had blocked me from bidding or buying any of their listings. I have had no reply to my messages asking why? Has this ever happened to you? Any ideas why they blocked me? I am pretty ticked off. At this point, even if they unblock me, I will never buy another coin from young8590.

That's kind of odd. You did him a favor by pointing out the inconsistency in the listing and he turns around and blocks you from bidding? When I sell on ebay and someone points out something that is not clear or seems wrong, I am very thankful.

Yes this has happened to me, well sort of. I consider it a blessing. This way I won't be dealing with the person who blocked me in the future. Let it go and hunt down a better deal. Should you accidentally bid on this guys stuff again and get the blocked message just say to yourself. Glad I am blocked by that loser! I have actually asked people to block me, so I don't make the mistake of dealing with them again. Hasn't happened a lot, but I've been there myself. Just let it go. Their loss not yours.

This is really weird guys , I'm not a dealer and only buy coins on ebay , never sold one. The other night I spotted a nice dime I wanted , auction was closing and I put in a bid ..it got blocked I took note of all my previous transactions and id never dealt with this seller before , he seems to be a small to mid size range feedback type set up.Ive never had a bad transaction on ebay buying from anybody. Its been smooth sailing, ive only been on ebay just a year and a bit. Cant figure out why ..money out his pocket..i didnt bother asking why , plenty other dimes out there ya know....weird though

I have been having a series of messages with this seller. I sent him one and told him that unless I heard from him as to why he had blocked me that I was going to tell the story on my coin forum. Here is his reply: WE ARE FORWARDING YOUR MESSAGE TO ebay SECURITY BECAUSE IT AMOUNTS TO A THREAT AGAINST OUR BUSINESS WHICH IS NOT ALLOWED. WE ARE ALLOWED, AS A SELLER, TO BLOCK ANY BUYER FROM PURCHASING FROM US FOR ANY REASON. YOUNG8590 Here is my reply back: Go right ahead. I'm glad you are doing this. I don't think an accurate post on a public forum about being unjustly blocked constitutes a "threat to your business". When you treat good customers unfairly, you can reasonably expect it to become public feedback. By the way it was not a threat - I have already told my forum about my experience with you. It is Coin Community in the ebay forum if you want to have a look and have a chance to respond. Here is his last response: You think it over. - young8590 and my reply: Only thing I can think of is that you are having a really bad day. Maybe you mixed my user ID with someone else? Who knows? I am really surprised to be having this difficulty with someone who has a 100% rating. Nevertheless, it is your right to block me if you wish, just as it is my right to tell the story on a coin forum. Good luck with your future business. By the way I am also a seller of coins on ebay and I have also blocked you, in my case with good reason. Colin At this point I guess I will let it go. Hard not to take it personally when there is NO reason and I have been removed from a good source of Red BU Lincolns that I need to buy. Nevertheless s--t happens.

G'day, bizarre. I agree with all of what Wheezydog wrote, but especially: "... Their loss not yours." Peter in Oz

I won't be buying from him in the future; some people are just too uptight and don't deserve your business.

I didn't even know a seller could block you. Makes sense to have the facility there, but weird to use it because you pointed something out that could save him hassle down the line.
I often let sellers know if there is an error in a listing. Purely so that they can change it, not for any other reason. Most have written to thank me for doing so. Maybe I should think twice in future. Sure don't want to be blocked from a potential purchase.

A seller that will block a bidder for pointing out a minor listing error is probably a seller that you do not want to be doing business with in the first place

I'm getting a little creeped out by this guy. I asked him to stop sending messages and he keeps sending them. I just got one that stated: "It is not a game, it is my business". Still no information on why he blocked me. I have stopped replying - now I just wish he would go away. In eleven years of transactions on ebay I have never had anything weirder happen. This is not the kind of behavior by a seller that would get him a 100% positive feedback for hundreds of transactions. Just to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he is having some kind of problem right now that doesn't really have anything to do with me personally.

I got blocked once by some guy for asking if he offered returns. He got all angry and acted like I was trying to scam him. Seemed like a scammer himself =/

Quote: I asked him to stop sending messages and he keeps sending them. Be careful to use the my messages only unless you end up making a transaction. Do HIDE your email from such people that act this way. There is a box to check to hide or show your email. Sometimes I will give it out, most times I do not. Once a member has your email and your user name, all they have to do is try to figure out your password. One morning I woke up and noticed that my account was hijacked. I was selling golf clubs and some kind of leather baggage. It was a buy it now dutch auction. I am sure this was somebody who had asked me a question about an item and I let my email show. Then once they figured out my password, which was probably found using a keystroke recording download embedded in our email exchanges. He went on to change my email address in my ebay account and then changed payment to his paypal account. Luckily I had no sales and looked my selling page over that morning. I called Paypal and they gave me an ebay number and I changed my email address and password before I got ID theft-ed. Be careful, it's a jungle out there. Stay away from this ape.

Pretty scary stuff man , I've never liked the fact ebay requires a landline and its displayed to a buyer.Theres no need for a phone number on the vast majority of transactions.

I, too, have been blocked by 3 different sellers, each for my having politely pointed out inconsistencies in their listings, and suggesting a revision. Once, for requesting additional photos, if possible. Each time the email exchanges escalated to the level of surrealism. To this day, I don't know why or what I did to draw near-psychotic wrath. I guess it's all part of the ebay experience, and at no extra charge!
