Even though mine will be given away as a birthday gift, it was exciting to get the notice that the proof set had been shipped.

Quote: This one's for jbuck: "We have the technology..." Beautiful! How did this obvious design choice escape the brilliant minds at the mint? Do not answer that. Some things are best left unsaid!

i got my sets today I love the lincolns. besides the lincolns I liked the mariana islands quarter. and while the Sacagawea dollar obverse is not that great with that blank area on the right side it looks better in person in my opinion the reverse is real nice.

I also received 2 of the 4 sets ordered today. I love the "Lincolns" and the sight of the 1st 2009 Nickel and Dime are sweet too. I too love the Mariana Islands Quarter, very detailed, overall, some very nice PROOF coinage......

Hello everyone.
Is it possible for those who already have the proof sets to weigh the Lincoln cents in the packaging like that we can establish a control weight?
This way in the future no one has to break open the set looking for off-metal cents.

I think ... that they're just 3.11 grs... ohh... are you edging us towards breaking them apart and finding a zinc one? ******** Also, none of the 3 tracking numbers that USmint gave me seem to work... :(

I too would like to confirm the weight of the new Lincolns, however, I do not plan to "break" the sets open, when someone does, Please confirm..I mean I know some will be opening these sets and while you are at it could you cut the coin in half, to insure the metal content,LOL, LOL,only kidding .......

Quote: I just received an e-mail from the mint saying that the 2009 Clad proofs that I had a subscription for, shipped today. I ordered mine on the 6/5 and received shipping info on the 6/9. I think that was quick.

Maybe I wasn't clear I know they weigh 3.11 grams I would like to know from multiple sources the weight of the 4 cents...
3.11 x 4 = 12.44grams + Holder = ?grams
Let's say it is an average of 94 grams +/- 0.05 grams then whoever has a set weighing 93.4 grams has an error. Please correct me if my logic is wrong or if there is as simpler way.

What you are getting at is if it is light in the holder, then one or more is a wrong planchet zinc proof, right? We could weigh the package and know if there is a error inside.

Today I received the rest of my proof sets ordered, this was all done thru the subscription procedure, quite smooth and quickly shipped....I am told from the call I made to the Mint, the Mint sets would be available on July 14th......No word on the release date for the Lincoln Coin and Chronicle set, ( the Lincoln Proof Comm Dollar and the 4-proof cents ).
